After a riveting performance at the last Tirgan Festival, held every two years, Arash was welcomed once again to grace the stage for a performance featuring pieces from his upcoming album.
Arash performed July 29 in the evening and July 30 during the day on the East Side stage at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. On both days people took up every seat and crowded in to catch a glimpse of the emotionally provoking performance. Passersby stopped once in earshot of the music and they too joined the experience Arash was creating on the grand piano.
Each performance received rounds of applause and audience members approached Arash to thank him for sharing his talent and let him know how deeply the compositions had touched them.
Tirgan is the largest Iranian festival in the world that focuses on celebrating music, art and the beautiful Persian culture.
Special thank you to Tirgan for another opportunity to share the music and to the staff and volunteers, and all those who came out to support the performance. For information on how to donate to the festival click here.

Watch the magic that ensued July 15 at Toronto’s Metropolitan United Church with live piano by Arash Behzadi, Flow + Glow yoga class with Miranda Leeann and a meditation session with Anna Gala for the Sunrise Edition of the event series. Read about both editions here.
After his performance at the last Tirgan Festival two years ago, Arash will be returning to the stage of Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. He will be performing on July 29 at 8:30 p.m. and July 30 at 2:30 p.m. this year on the East Side Stage.
Arash will be performing compositions from his upcoming New Age album that will be released in the late summer.
Join Arash at Tirgan the largest Iranian festival in the world. The event is a wonderful combination of arts, music and culture that perfectly showcases the beauty in Persian culture.
In the month of July Arash commenced the first official piano-yoga venture. The pianist/composer partnered with international yoga and movement instructor Miranda Leeann and meditation and wellness coach Anna Gala to host Toronto’s first cathedral yoga event with live piano, entitled Sacred Space the Sunrise Edition on July 15 and the Moonrise Edition on July 24. The Metropolitan United Church, located in downtown Toronto, opened its doors to just over 60 attendees for a magical filled morning and evening.
Both classes experienced 45-minutes of Miranda’s signature Flow + Glow yoga while Arash played compositions from his album, With Closed Eyes, on the Mets grand piano. Miranda accompanied each soul into a journey of movement and showed the classes how to find harmony in their breathing. Pose after pose Miranda stayed connected to the participants bringing the class to flow as one.
Perfectly framed by the cathedrals’ high pillars Miranda used Arash’s peaceful keystrokes to phase into savasana. The neo-Gothic walls carried the sound and vibrations of the piano throughout the sanctuary and into the bodies of everyone present creating a magical atmosphere.
During Moonrise, Arash played a touching tribute to Linkin Park’s lead singer Chester Bennington by playing their critically acclaimed single, Numb.
Miranda concluded the yoga portion and passed the session over to Anna for a 30-minute guided meditation.
With a gentle and soothing tone, Anna got the attendees to search within themselves to release bad karma and find their inner peace. Anna coached through deep breathing exercises and Arash’s playing intensified in a way that seemed as though the negative energy being released took form through the music. Anna and Arash fell into a synchronized mix of emotions and rhythm creating a powerful combination that left the groups in a euphoric state.
Inspired by the feel of the room and both Anna’s and Miranda’s guidance Arash improvised compositions during certain parts of each class making them feel unique and customized.
After each edition attendees ended their journey of movement, meditation and music in a relaxed state of mind, some even left in tears, but each person truly found their sacred space.
Participant Stacy Chang-Christoforou said, “Yoga with the piano was a connective and emotional experience. I was connecting with the music and feeling a sense of release, of cleansing. It was beautiful.”
After this successful debut, the trio plan on bringing it back for fall 2017. Details will be made available as soon as they are set.
This is only the beginning of Arash’s journey into exploring the endless possibilities of combining yoga with live music in unique and spiritual settings.
Special thank you to partners and friends Miranda Leeann and Anna Gala, photographer Ryan, video producers Peyman Soheili and Hafez Savi, the helpful church staff and everyone that came out to support the event.
On April 13 Arash was in Bali for a solo piano performance at the Wu Wei WIsdom Sanctuary. The sold out event was hosted in the 300-year-old temple surrounded by lush greenery and always accompanied by sounds of Bali’s nature.
The performances featured compositions from his first new age album, With Closed Eyes, as well as scenic and emotionally inspired impromptu pieces. Arash was deeply touched by the beautiful high-rise view of the temple that it gave way to new compositions that will be part of an upcoming album.
The power and sacredness of the temple touched Arash mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically. The open walls of the temple allowed for a constant soundtrack of forest sounds that seemed to always be playing new and riveting songs that beautifully merged with the vibrations of the piano.
Those in attendance had a backdrop of a star lit-sky and an emerging moon illuminating the surrounding greenery enveloping distant villages as Arash took them on a journey of deep and soulful music. All while banana leaf wrapped candles on the piano flickered as if dancing with the warm island breeze to the piano’s melody.
Encaptured by the sense stimulating performance the crowd watched and listened in awe, some being brought to tears as they allowed the music to heal their souls and enjoyed the up and downs of stories Arash told through his compositions.
Audience members described the experience as music that elevated the soul, soft energy with a lot of fire, artistically inspiring and overall a piece of art needed to be shared with the world.
Arash left inspired and reawakened to keep on creating new uplifting music that will take his listeners on an emotional journey whether it be a safe place or elsewhere.
Special thank you to the Wu Wei Wisdom Sanctuary and staff, the generous hosts and all those who came out to show their support.
After only meeting Alla Dulh a few weeks prior in Bali, Arash joined her to put on a theatrical performance with live piano on April 9, 2017, at the 300-year-old Wu Wei Wisdom Sanctuary in Ubud, Bali.
The piece was a combination of live piano, dance, art and song based on Alla’s book about her wooden paintings entitled Antare.
As the audience looked on Arash played compositions he improvised based on the mood of Alla and the audience. Once emotionally connected through the music Alla navigated the emotional journey of her life experiences. At one point she was brought to chest sobbing cries that transcended into heartfelt laughter leaving the crowd stunned but mesmerized.
Chapter after chapter Arash managed to get lost in the story to truly portray the raw emotions with the strokes of the piano carried beyond the open walls of the temple into the unknownness of the surrounding forest.
Praised by all those who attended, Arash and Alla plan to share this masterpiece with the world.
The video gives a glimpse into the uniqueness of the performance and beautifully showcases the sacredness of the temple. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
Special thank you to the talented and inspiring Alla, the beautiful temple and gracious hosts Dev Dharam and Neely Shasheen Cane and all those who came out to support the event.
